My background

I'm Christopher L. Penn. Before I ever wrote a line of software or named a company, I was a kid who wanted to be useful. I served in the United States Air Force, and that stretch of my life shaped everything that came after it — discipline, ownership, and a low tolerance for excuses. Today I run a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB), and I'm a believer and a father first. Everything else is downstream of that.

Over 35+ years I've sold just about everything you can sell face-to-face, and for the last 21+ years I've lived inside the home improvement world. I wrote a book about it — One and Done: The In-Home One-Call Close — because the in-home sale is its own craft, and almost nobody trains for it properly.

How I got into sales

I didn't fall in love with selling because of a seminar. I fell in love with it at kitchen tables, sitting across from real people deciding whether to trust me with their home and their money. Sales, done right, isn't pressure. It's clarity — helping someone make a decision they're already leaning toward but are afraid to make alone.

I don't like guessing.

That one sentence drove the next twenty years of my career. I wanted to know what actually happened on a call — not a rep's memory of it, not a hunch, the real thing. Because when you stop guessing, you can finally fix what's broken.

Starting with a hammer

Like a lot of people in the trades, I started with my hands. A hammer, a truck, and the willingness to show up. There's no shortcut to understanding what a homeowner is feeling when their roof is leaking or their kitchen is falling apart — you have to be in it. Those years on the tools taught me that the product is never really the product. The trust is the product.

Building a renovation company

Eventually I built and led a renovation company. That's where I learned the part of this business that no one warns you about: you can be great at the work and still bleed money on the sales floor. I watched talented reps walk away from deals they should have closed. I watched good leads die from a missed follow-up. I saw the gap between how hard we worked to get the appointment and how casually we handled it once we were in the door.

The sales problem I kept seeing

The same problem showed up everywhere I went: nobody could see what actually happened on a sales call. Owners were coaching off stories. Managers were guessing at why deals stalled. Reps were repeating the same mistakes because no one ever caught them in the moment. The tools on the market were built for software reps on video calls — not for someone selling a $40,000 project at the dining room table.

RepVise wasn't created in Silicon Valley.

It was built by someone who carried the bag, missed the close, and went home wondering what he could have said differently. That perspective is the whole point.

Why I built RepVise

I built RepVise to end the guessing. Not to replace great salespeople — to make them more consistent. If you want the full story of who we are and what we believe, that lives on our about page. But the short version is this: I wanted every owner to have what I never had — a clear, honest view of what's happening on every call, and a way to coach it.

I've been where you are.

How RepVise works

It's simple on purpose. You upload a sales call, and RepVise analyzes it against your playbook — scoring discovery, rapport, value, objection handling, and the close. Then it turns that into coaching feedback a rep can actually use on the next appointment. No dashboards full of half-logged deals. Just the call, the truth, and the next step. If you want the walkthrough, see how it works or check our pricing.

Why Revenue Recovery matters

Here's the part that keeps me up at night for our customers: most of the money isn't lost to bad leads — it's lost to good calls that never got closed or followed up. Our Revenue Recovery view surfaces exactly those deals — the ones already in your pipeline that you're quietly leaving on the table. That's not new spend. That's revenue you already earned the right to win.
